Mrs. Nickell's News

Happy fall! Thank you to the families who participated in this year's fundraiser. We raised approximately $9,000! This is great because every penny counts, but it's about half the amount we usually raise, so please be on the lookout for additional fundraising events. As the weather continues to get cooler, please have your child wear a jacket or sweater in the mornings. Also, this is a reminder about the importance of attendance. Your child is considered chronically absent if they are absent for more than 16 school days, and they are considered habitually truant if they have four total days of unexcused absences in any one month or 10 total days of unexcused absences during any school year. Please be mindful of attendance and save family trips or out-of-town day trips for the weekends. We love educating your children and want them in school as much as possible, so they can learn as much as possible. Thanksgiving break is around the corner, so please know that I am so grateful for your incredible children and the opportunity to be a Pioneer Cheetah! Fall joke...What has ears but can't hear a thing? A cornfield!

Counselor's Corner

Welcome to the month of November where temperatures are finally dropping and the need for layers is increasing. As we continue on our purposeful people mission this month, we are focusing on Gratitude which is, "choosing to appreciate the people and thing in our lives." Throughout the month we will be working on building an "attitude of gratitude" with topics focusing on things like emotional advocacy and utilizing positive-self-talk to focus on the present. Please look for monthly fliers that have prompts that can assist with lessons that are going on in the school. We have also included a new habit tracker focused on building gratitude skills. Any student that completes the 30 day challenge will receive a prize. If there are any question about our program or concerns with your student, please contact Mr. Mack.
